Danemathics ("we", "us", "our") operates the Danemathics: Rise to Legend game available at play.danemathics.com and on the Google Play Store. This policy explains what personal information we collect, why, and how we protect it — in compliance with the Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA), South Africa.

1. What We Collect

• Email address — used only to identify your account. We never send marketing emails.
• Display name & @username — shown on the leaderboard and to friends.
• Game progress — XP, level, scores, story progress, achievements. Stored so you can access your progress across devices.
• PIN — stored as a one-way hash (SHA-256). We cannot see your PIN.
• Last seen timestamp — used for the admin dashboard to monitor active users. Not shared publicly.

We do not collect: real names, addresses, phone numbers, payment details, or location data.

2. How We Use Your Information

• To provide and maintain your account
• To sync your game progress across devices
• To display your name and score on the global leaderboard
• To allow friends to find and challenge you by @username

We do not sell, rent, or share your personal information with third parties for marketing purposes.

3. Children's Privacy

Danemathics is designed for Grade 8–9 learners (approximately 13–15 years old). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 without verifiable parental consent. If you are under 13, please ask a parent or guardian to create an account for you. If you believe we have collected information from a child under 13 without consent, please contact us immediately at [email protected].

4. Data Storage & Security

Data is stored securely using Upstash KV (Redis) hosted on Vercel's infrastructure. All connections are encrypted using HTTPS/TLS. Access to stored data is restricted to authenticated sessions only.

5. Data Retention

We retain your account data for as long as your account is active. Guest progress is stored only in your browser's local storage and is never sent to our servers.

6. Your Rights (POPIA)

Under POPIA, you have the right to:

• Access the personal information we hold about you
• Correct inaccurate information
• Request deletion of your account and all associated data
• Object to the processing of your information

7. Leaderboard

Your display name and score are publicly visible on the leaderboard. If you do not wish to appear on the leaderboard, play as a Guest or do not submit scores.

8. Third-Party Services

• Vercel — hosting and serverless functions
• Upstash / Redis — database
• Google Fonts & jsDelivr CDN — fonts and KaTeX math rendering (no personal data shared)

In the future, we may add advertising (e.g. Google AdSense/AdMob). If we do, we will update this policy before ads go live.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. We will post the updated policy on this page with a new "last updated" date.
